Current Location: on fire
Current Mood: hot
Today is one of those days that makes you go doh! Hangin' here at the old fd and it is a mere 97 degrees outside with a heat index of 108. Really. Those who have been here know I'm not kidding. Anyway--so guess what the powers that be set up for today???? They are having the floors waxed. Choices: A:suffocate B:open doors/windows and have heat stroke C:drive around for hours and hours hoping the ac in the truck works. All I can see in my mind is the far side cartoon--the gates of hell (damned if you do/damned if you don't.)

Jul. 10th, 2006 @ 01:56 am The best'est week ever
Current Location: Work (duh)

I had the greatest time!!! My brother and his fabulous wife came to visit, I got to blow shit up, I went out with my friends, got drunk, won money at the boats, got some uber cool stuff for my birthday, scheduled my aff (freefall class), ate tons o' food and discovered a new favorite drink!!!
So--loved the visit, got to bond with my sis-in-law (unfortunately didn't get to spend as much time with the bro as I would have liked) and had great fun. I was really sad to see them go!!!!!!!!
On to the outing. . . . .Six of us went to the boats (had a hotel room there for $36--doesn't that suck :) ). We gambled a little and I won 30 bucks playing penny slots! We headed over to the bar where we found some folks to buy us drinks (always a bonus). It turned out, it was some chick with her boyfriend who is apparently married with four kids--who knows why they were buying us drinks. I discovered at this outing that I LOVE absolut citron and cranberry juice!!!! It is a VERY bad thing!!! (This could make me an alcoholic--kinda like my big brother) The bartender was a little concerned about us driving home. Luckily we had the major cheap super nice hotel room. We headed up to the room after they took our drinks away (the bar closes at 3) and pushed the beds together. Picture this: six drunken nurses in one giant bed. Really. . . . . .sounds better than it really is. Of course no one was sober enough to remember to put the sign on the door and the housekeeper CAME IN THE ROOM at 8 AM!!! Not to worry--we went right back to sleep. :)
Oh, I almost forgot! My orientee (also a dear friend) passed her nursing boards!!! Yeah!!!!

Anyway, in a futile effort to smile-up the mood of my friends here on lj. . . . .TOP THAT WEEK!

Current Music: nothing. not even the tv--ugh.
As days go, this is not a bad one. CELT started her new job (yeah) I had a nice nap (on the clock :) ), Duncan was super snugly this morning and I had a great lunch--even an ice cream cone!! Unfortunately, I am at work--bored out of my gourd. I really hate to say that because inevitably due to the laws of our friend Murphy, saying you are bored will ultimately lead to work and I don't know that I'm THAT bored. ugh. It is 95 outside today so some dumb shit will probably try to have a bbq in the air conditioned trailer. Bastards. Again--not really sure what to complain about. Wish there was something to do, don't want to work. double ugh.

Current Music: Bright Eyes-Road to joy
I was reading an article in Outdoor magazine this week (not my favorite magazine but way cheaper than backpacker)about other folks such as myself that get a kick out of doing odd things. One of the things was scaling bridges. Apparently, you can now go to Newport and SCALE THE TOP OF THE PURPLE PEOPLE BRIDGE to Cinci!!!!!!! (legally)

-put that on my to do list.

I know that there is a certain amount of tolerance that must be used when working in a children's hospital but I have to tell you, if I hear one more word about fucking disney world FROM AN ADULT that particular adult will be flogged with mickey's whip. I am working my ass off and there are 8 people around another computer looking at pictures from the last group disney excursion. I am currently violating policy by using the computer but come on--do a LITTLE work first!!!!!!!!!!! I even had to turn on my mp3 because the silence of the unit is drowned out by fucking mickey mouse. sigh. death to smoochy.

My brother is a fantabulous writer but I don't even know what a supurlative IS. I can answer that stupid train question from math class (you know the one, train a leaves the station at 45 mph. . .) unfortunately no one gives a crap. Somedays, I feel like Poe. I need a trick belly to destract you with. . . . .

Well, we are finally under way on the ship now so I have time to let ya'll know what has been goin on! We arrived here on the island thursday afternoon and really just hung out. We were REALLY tired after the trip. Friday was great! We got up and went to breakfast (at 11am) at a really great place called boots and kimos--a mom and pop shop where I had killer banana pancakes (with real bananas) that were dressed with an awesome macadamia nut sauce instead of syrup. We also checked out one of the beaches and saw some awsome views. Friday night we went to the paradise cove luau. It started raining while we were there but luckily not too hard. The staff just passed out ponchos and they kept on dancin'! It was fun! The rain has been around most of the time and there have been several torrential down pours but it hasn't really kept us from doing anything. Saturday we got up early and headed over to the north shore of oahu for a little skydiving--14000ft over the pacific we bailed out for an incredible ride!! You know I have mad several jumps before but this was just amazing. After the jump we headed back to Pearl so we could get ready for our afternoon dolphin adventure. We were able to swim with a really cool dolphin named Maui. We held his fins and he swam with us on his belly, he gave us kisses and then even shot us forward on a boogie board--can you imagine!! As soon as we got out of the water and got dry clothes on the biggest deluge of the week hit. You could not see 20 ft because the rain was so heavy--and BUTT ASS COLD! It only lasted about 20 minutes and then it cleared up (again). We were able to hit the Hard Rock for dinner. Today we got packed back up and checked in here on the ship. We had dinner in one of the dinning rooms and had some coffee and now I am here talking to you! I wish everyone could be here--I can't wait to tell you all about it and show you the pictures!!!!
Love ya--till next time!
